Lieutenant Commander Elm
TIFC Serial# 031-736-4219
Elm is a tall, thin individual, not skinny enough to be considered lanky, but not built enough to be considered broad. His profile is sleek-lined and military, standing tall and with his shoulders always rolled back. Brown hair is close shaved, fading up to know more than half an inch on the top of his head, visually distracting from his face are his hazel eyes, reflecting the color of whatever is placed in front of them. Pronounced lines on his face, namely the jaw and nose, betray a strict attitude not backed by his personality. On his right hand is a gold ring, a yellow jewel set in the center with a large "E" standing out in silver on top. A tattoo of a spanner, in silver, runs up his outer right forearm.

Personal History:
Elm had a boringly normal childhood, both of his parents were alive well into his military service, and he suffered from no tragic of lessened upbringing. After turning eighteen he attended the engineering program at the Academy of Federated Worlds. It was here that his mentionable life began. Contrary to his younger self, the young adult Elm was very extroverted and social, he was always willing to help another student or take the fall for one in a bind, this lead to him receiving numerous student awards after graduation. He also elected in a martial defense course which he excelled at, much to the dismay of his friends, he followed this sort of training throughout his life. Once enlisted into the fleet as Ensign, he was stationed to the Space Station Piraxus, serving the Orbital Command Elysium. After five years, he was called to his home service and reassigned as Assistant Chief Engineer, for the new Space Station Gamma. After several years of dutiful service, and the sad retiring of the elderly Chief, Elm took the head spot.
Life on the Gamma was exciting and dangerous, lives were constantly put in danger by one crazy visitor or another. The end of a particularly boring month, marked a new beginning in Elm's life, and a drastic change. Several thousand Kilometers from the Gamma, a strange sensor anomaly began to grow. It was a massive energy reading off of whatever charts were available at the time. After several weeks and no visual, it was decided to send a small vessel to determine what this sensor reading was. The then-Commander Elm volunteered to lead the mission, which also contained a junior science officer, and two Marines. Thrusting towards the cause of the signal error, there was nothing to be found, the shuttle's sensors failed to even acknowledge the existence of any space entity.
With a sudden burst and shutter, the shuttle, as best could be described fell. It was like being in a steel box falling off of a tall building, and was like falling in all manners. As it began to spin, something made a visible puncture the size of a large ball in the rear door of the shuttle, before Elm could react, one of the Marines sealed off the cockpit with a forcefield, in his haste, miscalculations severed the science officer in two, and Elm watched the two marines suffocate. The shuttle drifted through space for almost a day, the limited air running dangerously low. A strange ship scooped up his vessel, and he became another refugee in the Nexus. He refers to his galaxy by the premier station on which he served, Gamma. He was addressed by his rank and briefed on his current situation. Elm was devastated upon learning he may never be able to return to his home. He moped for weeks, but eventually decided not to tax this new society anymore and volunteered once again for the fleet.
Elm's service in his new world started at the Imperial Fleet Academy. Being one of the older students, with a sort of uncanny knack for the technology and military decorum, he progressed quickly through his classes. During his second year he authored a project with two professors and several senior cadets, experimenting with warp field position and phase directioning. He spent the entirity of his third year working on his project, but the results were never posted or journaled. Elm served as an Ensign on the Spectre-Class Indomitable, a small inter-fleet destroyer. His posting there as an Engineer, though a line vessel, proved very uneventful, after a few years of service he was transferred to an ambassador Steamrunner, at the request of one of his research associates, who had recently been promoted to the ship's XO.
When the Steamrunner was retired Elm was once again in the pool for a ship. He requested duty on a Line ship again, and was assigned to the Starship Avalon, which at the time was going under a refit... |
