Orientation

Welcome to Starship Avalon. This section will guide you through what Starship Avalon is all about so you can make an informed, intelligent decision about joining us.

Let's start off by telling you right off that Starship Avalon, quite often called Starship Avalon, is NOT a combat guild. We have military ranks and wars but we focus far more on the personality side of Roleplaying. Things such as relationships and conflicts. We DO have combat but it, like in reality, has its place. Unlike a lot of guilds that will summarily attack other dreams out of some misinformed thought that they can destroy it, Starship Avalon has a very DEFINED continuity. Furcadia doesn't even exist in Starship Avalon. There are minor exceptions to this, however. We're focused more on the universe that has taken months to develop.

Starship Avalon is VERY developed. We have a major history stretching back before the guild even existed.

You're probably asking what is expected of you at this point. Let's go over that. You will be expected to:

1) Be present in Starship Avalon for at least an hour or two a day. This is the minimum "expected" time we'd like to see of our members.. Don't expect to get very far showing up this often however. Starship Avalon continues to operate throughout the day. When you are not there life will go on without you. You will most likely miss Roleplay scenarios that would have allowed you to "shine" which would have gotten you promoted.

2) Roleplay to Starship Avalon Standards. Starship Avalon Roleplay is strict. If you see someone who is having trouble RPing there is most likely considerable talk behind the scenes about remedial action to be taken. If you RP poorly you will NOT be popular among Starship Avalon members and may even risk probation or dismissal.

3) WORK. This is the most important one of all. Whether you work by showing up for several hours a day or do OOC tasks WORKING is the best way to go up the ranks OOC. Working shows that you can be relied upon and you will be asked to participate as a key figure in more RP's. As such you will probably get promoted more quickly.

4) Be patient. This is both OOC and IC. Your character will not get to be a high rank overnight. Some members have been here for months and are low ranks. Some by choice too. Showing up often EVEN when you're not getting promoted will get you promoted a lot quicker. OOCly be patient. Everyone in Starship Avalon is a real person that has real life responsibilities. Sometimes things take a while to finish.

5) Keep your word. If you say you're going to do something or be somewhere at a certain time make sure you do it. Failure to do so will have HARSH consequences.

Well now that you know what will be expected of you it's time to give you some pointers on your application.

Name: This appears obvious but it's not. Your name should be realistic (within Furcadia). A name of BX-1284 is not wanted nor would it most likely be accepted. Names that will result in your application being denied right off are uploader names (names of dreams): Joe's Restaurant, Jill's Orphanage....etc. Obscene names will be denied as well.  Xx names will also be rejected.

Email Address: Just make sure it's correct and it's yours. Remember we do keep IP logs so don't try to get around something by using a different email.

Character's Age: Obviously you will want to be an adult if you're going to work in Starship Avalon for any length of time.Applations to the acadamy are acepted when you're 18 years old. The Program Lasts 2 years if you're an enlisted member or 3 years if you're an officer. Any Characters under 21 will be rejected for there wasn't consideration for this. If you're character is between 18 and 21, Please complete your Academy training before attempting to board an Imperial Vessel or Installation. It is possible a charcter on board avalon (perferably Played by a human being and not an NPC) maybe a parent or guardian.

Simulation: Starship Avalon Continuiiities has several simulations (Furcadia Dreams) under our banner besides the Flagship Starship Avalon. To see these Please check out our Fleet Listing.

Do you belong to any other guilds (on ANY character you use)? Self Explanatory

What division would you like to join: Take a look at the 1st Year Cadet briefing for a list of what jobs are under what divisions if you aren't sure which one you want to join.

Races: Starship Avalon Continuities has a list of races specific to this continuity available here. Our Species are changed to suit our uniform regulations. We are not looking for Cat, Feline, Dog, Cananie ect, as this will be rejected and you would have to wait a minimal of 30 days to reapply with the proper corrections.

Character History : Your character didn't suddenly appear on Starship Avalon.  You need to make up a background that makes sense for you to be there and for you to build off of.  This is probably the most IMPORTANT field we look at when deciding whether or not to accept your application.  It HAS to be In Character, otherwise you'll be rejected.  For example:

John Tirst was born on Atlantis and grew up most of his life there.  He was instilled with a sense of loyalty and hatred for what the Tricentra did to his world and the moment he was able to join the military he did so.  He was assigned to the Starship Avalon after acheiving a high score on his placement tests.

The above is an example of an acceptable history.  More would be better but this is the minimum of what we're looking for.  Obviously don't copy and paste as your character is different.

We're NOT looking for this:

John Tirst was born in Lisa's Orphanage in Allegria Island.  He killed the owner there and then joined the OFM Military Guild in Allegria Island.  They found out who he was and so he had to escape killing the second in command as he left.  He now has found Starship Avalon and hopes they'll never find him.

This is NOT what we're looking for.  1) All those other places don't exist in Starship Avalon ICly so the military chasing the character wouldn't even exist.  2) If it did and he killed all those people it's doubtful we'd WANT him.  and 3) It demonstrates that the person doesn't know Strict IC Continuity.

Make an example of a hand to hand combat post: Obviously you will want to check out academy page to see what Starship Avalon's combat roleplay is like, the types of weapons used, etc. On Avalon, you may find youself in any number of combat situations. Freeform, turn based, post combat. IE: Consentual, pretty much anything realistic goes, one person attempts attack then other person, type out the attack and then wait style of Combat, is for the most part, the style of RP used.

Make an example of a job post: Taking the job you would like to be you will want to develop a post that uses Starship Avalon material (under the academy section) if possible. Make it long enough to get the point across. You don't have to complete the task although this will be looked upon highly.
