Starship Avalon is a CLOSED continuity

What does this mean?

A: Starship Avalon operates like its own little world. We don't require a military to defend ourselves since other guilds invading us don't exist in our own little universe

But that's twinkish!

If you think we're twinks because we don't accept outside continuities you obviously 1) Don't know the definition of twink. 2) Obviously have little knowledge of Furcadia's roleplay and continuity standards. Let us enlighten you.

http://www.furcadia.com/roleplay/strict.html#12 - This particular item is what we're talking about. Starship Avalon is a strict RP guild and -lives- by this particular rule. Let's make it easy and quote it for you: 12. Outside Continuities are NOT accepted. This sentence is the very definition of what is considered "Strict" Roleplaying as opposed to "Persona" Roleplaying. In Strict Roleplaying, character backgrounds must be in line with a Continuity. Compare this with Persona Roleplay, in which *all* backgrounds must be considered equally valid, even if they conflict! In Strict RP, you agree not to invoke outside Continuities. References to concepts, powers, character types, families, factions, etc., from books, movies, and novels are unacceptable. So, no Jedi, no Drow, no Saiya-Jin, no Malkavians, no "speaking Feral", etc., etc., etc. UNLESS these are agreed-upon parts of the Continuity.

Well we're going to invade you then!

You've obviously not been listening if you say this. In order to -exist- in our continuity you must first become a member.

http://www.furcadia.com/roleplay/strict.html#13 - 13. At some point, in order to participate, you need to knowingly agree to a Continuity. This doesn't happen by accident. Control of the Continuity can be enforced by membership in a Guild and one's presence in the Guild's Dream, but it starts when all of that Guild's players mutually agree to adhere to one. If you haven't done so, then you're not a part of the Continuity yet. Expecting someone to adhere to ANY Continuity, when they haven't already agreed, is very unfair to them, so it shouldn't be done.

http://www.furcadia.com/guilds/rules.html - states another reason backing our position:

8. We don't recommend attempting to do serious roleplaying with anybody outside of your own Guild

Well, I'm going to tell a guardian on you for not playing correctly!

Be our guest. Guardians, by Furcadia's game-standards, are to be called upon for main-map problems and various other instances that effect the game as a whole. Please remember the Starship Avalon is one dream, and the rules that we ask all to adhere to are part of our continuity. As a chartered guild, our rah reserves the right to accept and/or deny any character or event for the continuity, as the rah sees fit.

We'd now like to direct you to our continuous backing of our statements with: http://www.furcadia.com/guilds/rules.html - Particularly the points that state: A Guild is considered the property and responsibility of only one player, called the "Rah". The Rah is the ultimate judge of who is, or isn't a member.

The Furcadia Staff is in no way responsible for a Guild, even a Chartered one.

Well you can't stop me from RPing that I kill everyone in your Lobby!

Starship Avalon has a wonderful Out Of Character lobby. As such nothing you do there has any bearing. Besides. Starship Avalon still falls under Furcadia's consent rule which you agreed to when you downloaded the game. Can't remember what it says? http://www.furcadia.com/useragreement.html has it. It's number 9 under the Rules and Policies section. 9. In freeform role-playing, when someone says or poses something that imposes a result on your character, or states or implies that you have done something specific yourself, you may choose to proceed as if that thing never happened to you. This is known as the consent rule. (If you are playing in a dream that has it's own combat system or other sets of rules, however, you are expected to do your best to play along with those rules while you are in that dream. Dream owners always have the final say on such matters within their own dreams.)

We should also point out at this time that our bot also has a wonderful ban command -and- entering a dream after being told not to return can constitute harassment which is a violation of the user aggreement as well and -will- be reported if it becomes a problem.

Wait! Wait! What if I'm not interested in harrassing your group, but rather perhaps be interested in advertising or something of that nature on our sites or groups?

That's great! Avalon does happily accept partnerships on an OOC level with any guild on or off Furcadia that might share similar hobbies or interests, or not! If you look, we already have a few on our links page. We can both benefit from opening our memberbases to outside groups that might be interesting in joining our respective groups. If you think you might be one of these kinds of groups, please, email our Guild Rah, Marshall Lee, at axeman0202@hotmail.com, or our Vice Rah, Gerolkae, at gerolkae@hotmail.com
