LISTEN UP! Welcome to the home of the Starship Avalon's Marine Detachment, the famed 501st Mobile Battalion. Here you will find the equipment Database, Organization, and other information related for Role play for the Marines and Starship Avalon's tactical equipment. This area is still a bit spartan as the entire site is undergoing construction. The Mechanized Units and Flight elements will be linked to soon.; Below is a basic listing you may use for basic RP functions as I continue to work on the site. Marine Fleet Personnel Small Arms Support Equipment Mark IV-A Phaser PistolDuring the Orion War, Marine and Takimora Imperial Fleet Command Alike realized the advent for a need of an updated sidearms for the Fleet Officer's Corps and Marine Troops. As learned with the Model 212B Compression Rifle, a weapon with the ability to fire a projectile round was needed to combat the tough Personnel Shielding used by the Orion Forces. However, Fleet Command also wanted a weapon with the standard phaser ability as well, given that circumstances didn't always warrant the use of lethal force, unlike the Model 212 which has no stunning capability. The Mark IV was designed by venerable Atlantis based arms company Marvin Marvin Small Arms. The original designers of the "Necromancer" Model 214B Assault Rifle (see below) their design was chosen over many others mainly cause theirs was the only design to meet the criteria set forth by Fleet Research and Development so well. Heavy enough to be solid, straightforward weapon, it was still light enough to be carried easily, and repaired in the field. Using a slightly larger phaser crystal than the beloved Type III Phaser (see below) used to maintain the compression ability (the projectile round is wrapped in phaser energy to disrupt shielding if impacted), it also has the same beam and power settings as the standard Type III. By simply using the setting switch on the back of the phaser, then pulling the action back at the top of the pistol, you can change the weapon into a compression mode and fire the 12 .357 Caliber round chambered in a clip located in the bottom part of the grip. the Model IV-A Version also comes with the ability to "hot-swap" the phaser power module out for a fresh unit, allowing greater firing time without having to pause to recharge. Type: Sidearm/Compression Caliber: This weapon can fire a .357 round when in Compression Mode or can be set to 10 different phaser and beam width patterns, ranging from light stun to vaporize/disruption. When in phaser mode, the weapon also has a pulse fire capability. Also, the .357 round is compatible with the Model 212 Compression Rifle and can be fired without modification from the Mark IV-A. Carries an 18 round clip containing the .357 rounds. Extra Components: This weapon also can be fitted with laser sights, a small flashlight attachment, and a noise and flash suppressor for the Compression Round. Issued to: TIFC Officers, Marine Officers and NCO's. Though a few have found their way into the hands of the enlisted rank as well as more are produced. Type III Phaser
In use by Takimora Fleets and Marines alike for over 15 years, the Type III Phaser was the result of slow and steady refinement of phaser technology began by former Takimora Space Program R&D. With the angular design and ease of use by species of varying limb and design, this weapon has been mass produced in by the millions, and it by far the most widespread weapon found in the Empire and Nexus alike. Beam and Power settings are found on top just above the trigger, and the small shape made the weapon easy to conceal. Though the Mark IV is now becoming the standard issue for officer's in the Fleet and Corps, the Type III continues to be the standard weapon issed to all personnel in the Fleet and TMC. Type:Crystal/Linear Charged Energy Weapon Settings: Ten power and beam width settings ranging from light stun to vaporize/disrupt. Charge depends on power settings and usage. Issued To: TIFC Officers, Enlisted, & Civilian Personnel when applicable aboard ship. Takimora Marine Corps issues them to all personnel. Model 212 Assault Rifle
One of the most breakthrough weapons ever developed for the Empire, the Model 212 Assault Rifle was the first weapon used by Imperial Forces to incorporate the compression design principle. Compression weapons work on an ancient concept being brought back, the use of projectile rounds. The Model 212 also incorporate phaser technology as well, wrapping the projectile round in phaser energy to disrupt the personnel shielding being used by the Orion Ground Forces. Originally designed a standard phaser rifle (Model 211), this model was originally sent in during the first major ground engagements during the Orion War. However, it was found quickly despite the modulation settings on the phaser, they were ineffective against the Orion Kelnoc Ground Forces and their personal shielding devices. A call went out for a weapon redesign to combat this shortcoming. Maranmar Ballistics, a company specializing in mining equipment, offered the design for the now famous Model 212. A simple design, it was selected for the fact the Model 212 was a remanufactured 211. The phasing chamber had been moved back with the barrel and chamber now in place for the ballistic round. A small slot on both sides of the frame allowed for the breach and arm to operate a Gas Operated Recoil system. A 30 round, clip fed magazine fed into the bottom of the rife (not shown), with the Phasing Chamber placed just above the trigger that wrapped the round in phaser energy to disrupt a shielding device and allow the projectile to pass through. The original prototype rife was presented for field testing and the Marines soon found the original .9mm round originally released still lacked the stopping power needed to drop the hulking Orion Shock Troops known as the Go'ran. Also, the basic phaser crystal system inside lacked the ability to fire for long periods of time. Maranmar went back to the drawing table and released the Model 212-B. With the larger .38 Magnum round and new interchangeable phaser power pack modules, the Model 212 had long range, incredible stopping power (though it took awhile for the forces to get used the recoil, not seen with beam based weapons), and the with new Power Module, fully charged power units could be quickly interchanged allowing for sustained fire over long periods. Two other later models were released, the Model 212-C (power upgrade) being used by the Fleet exclusively, and a 212-S, a sniper version developed for the Marine Corps, which was chambered for the .308 caliber round. Type: Assault Rifle (Compression) Caliber: .38 Magnum round wrapped in a setting 9 phaser discharge. Carries a 30 round magazine fed clip. Issued to: Model 212-B is slowly being phased out of service by the Takimora Marine Corps, being replaced by the Model 214 "Necromancer". The 212-C however is still the preferred firearm in use aboard ship, with Marine Shipboard Security still proudly employing them, as the 214 is too large for shipboard operations. The 212-S also is still used in limited quanities in the Marine Sniper Corps. Model 214-A "Necromancer" Heavy Assault Rifle
Type: Heavy Assault Rifle (Compression) Issued To: Used exclusively by the Takimora Marine Corps. Type 209 Medium Range Heavy Support Phaser
The Type IV-B Medium Range Combat Support
Phaser (CSP) has recently come about to fill the need of a weapon that
can lay down large amounts of fire accurately and effectively. The
CSP fires pulses, much like a vastly underpowered pulse phaser cannon,
instead of the traditional phaser beam. The CSP is light enough to
be carried by one man, or a two man team if the reactor is being used.
The CSP can be used as a heavy automatic weapon with the addition of
a tripod. The tripod allows the weapon to be fired accurately at longer
ranges at higher rates of fire from improvised or fixed defensive positions.
The quadruped acts on the same principle, although it extends to stand
the height of the operator, to allow the operator to fire from a standing
position, so as to be usable in a more diverse role, such as light
anti-aircraft fire. The addition of an sensor enhanced sight system,
which incorporates a tricorder feeding sensor data into the sight,
makes the CSP much more effective at firing at moving targets from
fixed defensive positions. The tricorder utilizes a specialized program
that computes accurate lead data based on target distance, size, and
speed, and sends that Rate of fire: Adjustable from semi-automatic to 800 pulses per minute
